Just filled...help PLEASE!

Recommended Posts

I was just filled yesterday and could NOT get liquids down after I got home. I couldn't even keep my saliva in, I kept sliming and throwing up. The band was obviously too tight. My doctor met me at midnight at the office to unfill me. I felt MUCH better.

However today I still feel kinda nauseated, is this normal after a fill? I've been able to sip one slim fast and a few ounces of Water which has taken me all day. I also got down 1/2 of a pudding.< /p>

No problem with my saliva today. I've just been feeling kinda yucky all day, maybe from the stress on my esaphagus from throwing up so much yesterday??

I've never been good about just liquids then mushies for a few days after a fill. I couldn't "cheat" right now if I wanted to. Is this how I should feel for a few days?

Can you PLEASE tell me what you go through, what you are able to eat and amounts for the first 2-4 days after a fill????

If this is normal, I don't want to go get unfilled for nothing. I am determined to help the band work so it can help make me thin...

Help please!!!:confused2:

Thank you,

Kellie from sunny AZ

I was filled yesterday and I'm pretty tight. I can't hardly get anything but mashed potatoes down or I shoot it right back out of my mouth. ddon't drink and eat at the same time. that's what makes me bring it back out of my mouth. its not vomiting cause its just the liquid that I haven't even swallowed.

When getting fills its always best to take it lite 'n easy. You never know your doc, but you should ask that they go conservative. In my life this really is the only thing I am conservative about.

kelrob, take it easy. Just keep doing liquids until you are feeling up to moving on to more and more solids. You should always be able to eat solids, so if it gets to the point where you are noticing you can't eat them, then you still might be too tight. It will take a few days however for your insides swelling to go down. Take good care of yourself!

I had my first fill this past Wednesday and while I can get down fluids, solids and even some mushies make me hurt and I've had the worst gassy feeling. I'm not sure if these foods just don't agree with me, if I'm not chewing well enough, or I'm just eating too much or too fast. I haven't thrown anything up, I just hurt. I measure everything out so I don't think I'm overeating. I've made a conscious effort to chew and eat slowly, so I'm not sure what I'm experiencing now. I was pretty tight the first day, but liquids were going down. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
