Who's getting banded in June

Recommended Posts

I am also scheduled for June 11. I have been reading from this site all day. I am worried after 6 months of jumping thru hoops, i may not be approved, after reading today. I do have sleep apnea, high BP. fatty liver, high colestrol. BMI is 39. Others have been approved from my husbands company?? love the site, and needed someone to answer some questions.. thanks...

Hi to all you Junies!!

I read the post about the pre-op diet. I am a little confused too, but my Dr. said that I should follow the Atkins diet for 10-7 days before the surgery. I really hate the Atkins diet, but I'm pretty sure I will be faithful. I am self pay and it took a long time to save up and hours and hours of extra work. My Dr. had a patient he calls "The French Fry Lady." I guess during the pre-op diet she ate french fries everyday because she didn't really think it mattered.....Well, when the Dr. got inside to do the procedure her liver had not shrunk at all and he was unable to complete the banding and had to stop and stitch her back up. I think I would just die if that happened to me. So good luck to all of us. I can't wait to post an "after" picture someday!!

I WAS TOLD 2 WKS OF INSTANT Breakfast, BUT JUST FOR 2 MEALS, AND A REGULAR MEAL FOR ONE??? THAT WOULD BE TERRIBLE TO BE CLOSED BACK UP AND NOT BANDED...

In about an hour I am leaving for my surgeons visit and pre admission to the hospital. I will know later today when my date is. They say most likely on June 2nd or 4th. Hope the 2nd so I can be recovered enough to hang around (and probably not do much else) on the 6th for our Relay for Life. They say walking is good after surgery, but I dunno about all night!!! I am excited to be a June Bug!!

I am looking forward to it, although I know a lot of hard work is ahead. I am a 58 year old man with a lower bmi, 33, but I have diabetes and the pills and insulin aren't keeping my sugars in check anymore. I really don't mind being the chubby grandpa, but I want even more to be the healthy grandpa; the one the grandkids remember, because he hung around for awhile. Change is always a bit scary, but in this case it is also necessary. Bring it on!

The pre-op diet varies based on your doctor. Some require 2 weeks liquids only, some require 2 liquid meals and one "sensible meal" per day, and some, like mine, only require an Atkins type diet. The length of the diet varies as well. Be sure to get the clear picture from your doctor of what they require. Don't go by what others here are required to do.

I am new to this site but it seems to be a really good one too. I am being banded on June 10th @ St. Bernards Hospital in Jonesboro, AR with Dr. Bruce Jones. I cant wait to begin my new life. I am on a 3 week liquid diet that I got through the Dr's office and do pre-op in June 4th. Hope everyone has a good day!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
