please clarify "stuck" for me

Well when i put may band in almost a year now, my surgeon had said there is no harm in keeping the band in for life. As a matter of fact, it is expected to be in for the rest of my life. Although some people may take it out, or unfill completely, you are running the risk of gaining all the weight back. the whole idea of the band is to help you eat small portions and be full. the band is only a tool and once that tool is no longer there, you are likely to go back to eating as much as you used to and the weight will come back on. I personally do not plan on taking out the band, unless there's some kind of problem that am hoping will never happen. to take out the band, you will require surgery, the same as you put it in. i have read threads from people on this website whose been banded for 5years. I dont think most people think of taking it out.

I had my first experience with food being stuck. I got banded on April 21 and have had no fills yet. I started to eat a half of a chicken salad sandwich. I don't know whether it was the big chunks of chicken or the bread or the nuts and fruit in the salad, but the few bites that I took wanted to come back up in a matter of a minute. It is possible that I didn't chew well enough or that I ate too fast. I just had the bridge replaced on the left side of my mouth and have to chew on the right side only temporarily. I won't do that again.

It is reassuring to hear about all of your experiences. I feel like letting my family read them to let them know I am normal and not some lapband freak who is doing something wrong. LOL

I do have a question. Has anyone had this happen to them? Sometimes when I am really in trouble and I vomit, stuff also comes out of my nose. I know it is gross but it has happened. I am worried about aspirating food.< /span>

:confused2:
