Weight Watchers

Recommended Posts

A couple of years ago I lost quite a bit of weight with Weight Watchers (gained twice as much :)) and was thinking about going back. They are all about healthy eating, Portion Control, journaling, exercise, and the total lifestyle change. All things I need to seriously focus on to be successful with my new friend. Anyone else doing WW along with the band? I put up a post on the WW boards about the band once and was attacked!! Some people think this is cheating, poor ignorant souls. But the people I met at the meetings always seemed great and I need all the help I can get!

I am doing WW with my daughter. Currently, I am completely unfilled and just haven't had time to go back. I haven't lost that much. I've lost about 2 pounds in 3 weeks. :) Yikes. But, I was too tight before and lost 10 in one week. I'm back to where I was a month ago and I still feel good.

I haven't told anyone there about my band. I'm not sure they'd be understanding. I'm at 29 points a day, and have no trouble getting there. I'm not sure how I'll do with a fill, though.

I love it. I'm still addicted to food and WW helps with that. Even though we have this board, it's nice to talk IRL with people who also have the same issues. I love the leader's stories and it feels good to go and talk about weight issues - not really band issues.

Keep us up to date...I'd love to know how WW is working for others.

I was contemplating about a month ago if I should join Weight Watchers at work, I even posted a thread about it or at least took it to one of the other threads here I can't remember since I'm on line here everyday. However, I decided against joining WW as I already know how to eat healthy and didn't consume more than 5 ounces per meal (during that time) along with a couple of low cal Snacks during the day. My main concern was being able to use a daily food journal in which I found at sparkpeople.com (it's free). My job was going to pay half of the cost but I decided to go and get a fill (and wow do I have great restriction-it's the best I've had since being banded) so now I can't eat more than 4 ounces if I eat that much (I'm truly loving this restriction). I then added in a daily 2 mile walk or more and some exercising, my elliptical and now the scale is moving again. You have to decide what works for you and I find my support here on slow losers unite, because I am a slow loser, that's about to change since I'm trying to get my act together. Remember if you need support or someone to listen to you we are all here and everybody helps everybody, that's why this is my best support group. I wish you luck!

Hi, Texas! My doctor told me that the people who do best with the LapBand Surgery are the ones who continue with Weight Watchers. And so far, so good! I do the Weight Watchers at Work meetings and I like those because I find them to be more interactive and supportive than the regular community meetings.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
