November Nymphs Summer Kick-Off Weight Loss Challenge

I'm glad I'm not the only one who loves my pets to distraction. Foofy, my heart goes out to you. I had to put my 15 yr old Lhasa down 10 yrs ago and I still miss her. She was my baby before I had babies. I have a 10 yr old Cocker Spaniel who I adore and she is starting to show signs of age. It's so hard saying goodbye to a beloved pet. Only other pet owners truly understand how we feel.

I hope everyone else's pets will be alright. Keep us posted on the results of the tests.

Lost 2 this week. I was thinking about getting a fill but now I'm not sure. Maybe I should wait. I get so swollen and uncomfortable for a week after a fill. I lose a lot that week but then stall for 3 weeks after. I'm pretty tight with 7cc in a 10cc band but can still eat a decent amount of food. Don't think I'm at that elusive "sweet spot" yet. However, I get stuck too often and am afraid it will get worse with another fill. What do you think? Should I wait a bit and see if I'm still losing regularly before getting another fill? Or should I bite the bullet and go for a fast loss for a week and get into Onederland faster?

Hi Cindy

Everyone's different but I have 8cc in a 10cc band and can still eat pretty much what I want. I don't feel hungry a lot of the time but if I choose to eat then I can and unfortunately do. Anyway, if you feel pretty good restriction at 7cc then I wouldn't push for it but if you think you might benefit by going tighter, especially if you have a goal, then I say go for it. I was meant to get another fill today but my doctor cancelled it this morning because he wasn't going to be in. I am now booked for next Tuesday. In some ways I didn't mind because I feel that I'm pretty much back on track and am starting to lose again. Only 1/2 lb but hey it's heading in the right direction again. Hopefully by next Tuesday I should be a couple of lbs down. Let us know how you go.

I have a busy weekend ahead so I will probably be dropping some more soon!

OK I am down those 2 pounds I have been trying to get rid of for 2 weeks!!! Hopefully I am over my slump.

Thanks for the advice, Sades. I have an appt. at the doc on Friday and want to make a decision by then. If I don't lose anything by then, I'll fill. If I drop another pound, I'll put it off. I'm eating chicken piccatta now and having trouble getting it down and the chicken is very soft. I'm a bit afraid to go tighter.:party:

I want to join in this challenge. I'm really nervous, I put a number down, but I've been stuck. I had hoped to be at 209 by the end of the last challenge. OK enough of this talk I need to get my butt moving so I can get out of the 200's forever!

Sades - I feel like I can eat whatever, and whatever amount, I want too. I don't understand. Can someone interject if they know the answer? I thought we couldn't physically eat vast amounts anymore, even if we're not technically at our sweet spot yet. I mean, I've still got a band squeezing around my stomach, so why is soooo much going down it? Shouldn't there be somewhat of a restriction? Or does it mean that I've eaten to the point where I've stretched the "pouch"? I don't get it!

If you feel tight Cindy then I would hang out longer without a fill. As you say see how you go with your weight loss If it's not an effort getting the weight off then enjoy your eating experience for a while longer.

Linda, I wish I had the answer to that. I went to a support group where everyone was at a different level and yet some were managing to lose with 1-2cc less than me. The nurse at my drs surgery has 9cc and can still manage to eat a reasonable amount, yet 9.25cc had her PBing. One of guys at the support group told me that we seriously need to follow the band rules to get the benefit of the band. That is, no eating & drinking at the same time. I have noticed when I follow the rules I eat less. I just hope that my sweet spot rears it's head very soon. :cry_smile:

I have noticed I can eat more lately then I should. I know that I could use a fill, But I am waiting till I come back from my 2 week vacation as I am really afraid to be too tight in Cancun. I just don't want to chance having any problems. so I have really been trying to live by the rules I have learned these past 6 months and only eat the same small amounts I was stuck at a platue for a few weeks but the scale is moving down again. :-D I have a fill scheduled for June 30th. a few days after we come home from vacation. My last fill was Feb 26th. some days it is hard to resist the urges to eat the bad things, But then I remember why I did this and that I have lost over 60 lbs and down from a too tight size 20-22 to a getting loose 14.

I love my band and I love that this tool is available for me to work with to better my life!!!

Awesome Job Shalee! You have done remarkable. Size 14 that is fantastic. You must be elated. Hell, if I am elated at size 22, I can't imagine you. I don't blame you on not getting a fill before vacation. Enjoy! What is good about the band is that it is forgiving and you can hope back on the train when you bet back.

Keep up the great work! You are a superstar. :cry_smile:

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
