try not to let yourself get frustrated during the week and a half lull...sometimes the loss kinda comes and goes. i lost 17 lbs real fast, then stalled out for over a year...then went on to lose a total of 60 lbs. i am 10-20 lbs away from goal, depending on which goal i decide to achieve (it was first 138, then 148, so whatever). it has taken me over two years to get this far. keep working and using your band as a tool to help you, but dont get too caught up in the whole movement that says you must lose 100 lbs in a year!! ((some people do, and you may, but just concentrate on working hard and keep the faith during those 'lulls'.)) losing for good is always better than gaining, even in a lull.

best of luck to you!!

Hi Wendy! I was banded on the same date you were in Rochester, NY. It is very hard- I agree. But we have to have will power. I have only lost 16 lbs. to date- so feel great about your 25!!!!!!!!! i feel very little restriction currently...I go back on 6/13 for a fil I hope...One day at a time Wendy- that's all we can do and to remember that our band is a tool and the rest is up to us!:)

Leslie,

Thanks for the reply and good luck with you fill. I go on May 23rd to have my first fill. I don't feel alot of restriction right now either. But I have been told that this is normal. And CONGRATULATIONS on your 16lbs. I guess i need to realize that every pound counts. I did get on the scale to day and the scale actually dropped 4lbs, the first drop in over a week and a half. Thank you for the encouragement.

Wendy

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
