Hi everyone!

Ok, first of all- let me just say that I've been "lurking" here for quite a while now- I've just decided to jump on in and introduce myself.

My name is Jess, I'm from Culpeper, Virginia, and I'm newly banded on April 30.

I've spent hours reading the posts here, and I'm SO glad to know that some of the things I feel are being felt by others, its great to know I'm not alone!

I've felt a little guilty reading some folks posts, with the troubles they seemed to go through in getting the surgery, after the surgery, etc etc. Because thus far for me everything has been a breeze.

I went for my initial consultation on a Friday in February, and on Tuesday they called me back to tell me the procedure had been approved hands down and they could schedule me for April. I went through all the usual pre-op tests, then had surgery last Weds. the 30th. Surgery went great, left the hosptial on Thursday- slept in late on Friday, woke up feeling fantastic (albeit a little sore) and came into work! I worked Saturday too, went home and cleaned the house all afternoon, and spent Sunday just hanging out. Every day I've felt better and better, but I've never felt miserably sick or sore or anything to keep me from moving around and doing what I normally do.

This morning my sister and I started walking, which I'm really excited about! I've lost 8 pounds already! (probably because of all the running around I've been doing to catch up for the 2 days I was out!)

Here's the only problem I'm having... I am freaking starving! I thought my tummy was supposed to be super sensitive and I'm supposed to feel satisfied and whatnot on my full liquid diet? I'm about ready to barf if I eat another darn spoonful of Jello or one more mouthful of cream of wheat! And I swear, my stomach feels like its nawing on my backbone! I'm tempted to try some chicken and stars Soup today- but I sure am paranoid I'm going to mess myself up if I do! Anybody else sneak in some mushies before they were supposed to?

I'm so glad to be here! Look forward to getting to know some of you!!

Hi Jess,

Congratulations, I also had wonderful days after my surgery on April 14th. If you like to cook try making some chicken Soup. Use the chicken for the broth then take out the chicken and finish cooking the veggies. Add lots of seasoning like basil and chives a lot of garlic (if you like it) it's very good for you and maybe some Lowery's then do a quick whip in the blender. It's a little thick but I found it really satisfying. Don't forget lots of Water and its getting to be ice tea season too.

The days will go fast and getting on the scale in the morning really helps that feeling in your stomach because you know there is a good reason for it. Keep up the good work.

Blessings,

Sally

Jessica, Glad to hear you're doing so well. I had surgery one week ago- April 28 and like you, feel incredibly good. I never even took any pain medication (and I'm a wimp when it comes to pain). I have one week to go of Protein Shakes and Clear Liquids. I see that a lot of people progressed after the first week to soft foods. I'm going to call the dr. today to see if I could have some too. I'm sick of sweet shakes! Continue to feel good.

Putting Soup in the blender is a great idea, it helped me a ton because I was starving too........I tried all kinds and sometimes added milk or Water to thin it down a little. My doctor and nutritionist said there was no problem doing this at the liquid or soft food stages! Good luck!

Thanks everyone!

I'm going to try some campbells chicken and stars today for lunch, or maybe some hummus.

Perhaps this week I'll try making myself some chicken noodle soup! I'm so excited to CHEW something again!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
