SIGH!! Gained weight!!

Recommended Posts

I posted earlier on the "Weight loss challenge" thread, that I had weighed on the hotel scale and it showed I was 239 well I reweighed myself on that same scale it is showing me at 250 lbs now. SIGH!! I asked if the scales were calibrated and they said they hadn't been in a long long time. So they calibrated them. Now I have gained 10lbs. YIKES!!!!!!!!

I hate this. It is awful. I hate this. I hate this. My clothes are not fitting any tighter and I don't feel any different. So I don't really know if this scale is accurate either.

I know I am not eating right.

Eating too much junk that is for sure.

Have bruised the bottom of my left foot and can't really walk as much till that heals.

I just bought a 20 min Pilates dvd to use on my laptop so that will help me get re-focused.

I can stop eating the junk stuff.

I can drink more Water.

I am not going to let all the issues with my mom, with the death of my son in laws girlfriends, and any other emotional issues keep me from losing the battle on weight. I have to fight this every single day. I have to get stronger and be more diligent.

Stay strong guys!!

I just get so disgusted when I see that scale creep in the wrong direction. Heck I wouldn't mind if it creeped. This time it bungee jumped in the wrong direction. SIGH! I guess it could have been so much worse. I still feel good. I just need to work harder I guess. This is just a wake up call for me. I knew I had not been eating properly for awhile now and not getting the right amount of exercise. SO this will just jumpstart my battle again.

OK you little f%^&king fat cells. Gonna fight now. Watch out here I come.

LOLOLOLOL

Hi Penni, when I first read the title of this post, I thought "well of course she gained weight, she's increased her work-out to get ready for the full marathon!"

Your clothes are not fitting differently, right? RIGHT? Have you taken your measurements?

I know you are under tremendous stress right now. We forget that stress releases hormones that make us gain weight.

Relax and be kind to yourself, espeically now.

(now, if only I could take my own advice... :))

It could just be the scale, maybe if you were home that scale wouldn't show a gain at all! I agree, the stress is a big factor for you right now! Hang in there, it will get better! Hey, go to Walmart and pull out one of their scales and check it there! You might find out it is just the scale indeed.

Now thats a great idea! And just like Crystal said, if your clothes arent fitting any tighter, then dont give this too much thought!

I think we all have times like this, when one negative things keeps happening after another! ((hugs))

Its discouraging - but hang in there, things will get back to normal real soon.

Penni, you are in a strange place, living out of a suitcase and living in a hotel not to mention all the added stress of your mother and the death of your son in laws girlfriends. Once you get home and get back to your normal routine things will get better. Besides Penni, you should never go by what another scale says, always only go by the one you have always been using :) As you tell us " stay strong"

Now it's my turn to encourage you! I agree with what everyone else has said. Don't get too discouraged, because you are in a different place, with different surroundings, and experiencing so many different things.

I would just try to stay positive (I know, easier said than done) about it for right now, and enjoy the time away from home. Once you get back home you can start keeping track of things again.

It's so hard to know one way or another, and if your clothes feel good, then that's a great sign.

Keep your chin up, and I'm here if you need me. You're doing a great job no matter what!

You might have gained a couple, but I doubt you gained 10. I bet you would weigh different on your own scale from one state till the next. It would be interesting to see you carry the same scale in your suit case. Hmmm. food sucks.

I just realized that flying usually causes me to gain some. So hopefully it will resolve once I get home. The pilates dvd will help lots too. Thanks guys for reminding me of the travel issues. LOL!!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
