I don't plan to obsess about weighing myself every day, but I would like to have a good (accurate) scale at home for after surgery. Does anyone have a recommendation on a good scale?

I've got one that I've had for 10 years, and I don't think it's very accurate. It does show a loss of 20 pounds from when I was weighed at my seminar but I don't know if that's true or not. Of course, I had clothes on at the seminar weigh-in.

This is the scale I just ordered from Amazon. I can't give an official review, as I have yet to receive it, but the two reviews already placed by owners are both 5-stars.

[ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000Q6RECK]Amazon.com: Health o meter 844KL High Capacity Digital Bathroom Weight scale with 1.5 in. LCD, 440 lb x 0.1 lb: Health & Personal Care[/ame]

It's got a high weight limit (400lbs) and a large screen for easy reading.

I agree with you, I don't want to obsess over me weight either, but I do want to be able to see when my weight loss starts slowing down so I know to go in for a fill.

I have a digital Health-O-Meter. It has settings for up to 2 people. You can input your age, and it will calculate your body fat percentage as well as your weight. I've had for little over 2 years now, and it's been very accurate.

I have an older Tanita scale. It has settings for 4 people and 3 of them will give not just the weight but the body fat percentage. If it ever dies, I'll probably buy the latest Tanita to replace it. They've got one that measures more than body fat that I have my eye on. It's this one:

Tanitas are the best. I've had mine for over 10 years and it is very accurate.

I totally concur with the above comments! It is great to have a scale that tracks body fat percentage and Water weight as well. (don't be afraid of the metal pads that send the electrical pulse - you can't feel it at all)

Seeing my body fat go from 50% to 42% in less than 3 months has almost been as motivating as watching the weight loss! Eeek! How did I ever let myself get to being "half fat"?!?

I'm relying on the surgeons scales and going by that. I bought a new pair of scales and they weigh me 2kg heavier than the surgeons. I figure his are a good sign of how I'm going as that's what I was initially weighed on.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
