I started my journey of everything in April.

I'm 22, 23 in august and I weigh 419 pounds.

April 5th was my seminar.

April 18th was my consultation.

I had Xrays and blood work done April 23rd all turned up negative.

And now I start my 6 months of supervised diet and exercise on May 6th.

I'm sad that I have to do 6 months but at first the insurance said 1 year so 6 months is nothing! I'm already using baby silverware to teach myself to take small bites and chewing chewing chewing! I'm eating smaller amounts, and I took junk food and sodas out of my diet completely!

And now I'm also waiting on my Psych evaluation appt.

My EKG appointment (they heard an irregular heartbeat at my consultation)

and then I have the endoscopy and 2 week preop diet those will probably be around October! Either way I don't have that long to wait considering i started learning stuff about lapband toward the beginning of the year and they just started it where I live in March.

My insurance approved me already just have to do this 6 month thingy  Either way I'm VERY happy. :)

Congrats Froggi! I totally understand that it's so hard to be patient, but at least you already have the insurance approval!

One of the hardest things is sitting around waiting knowing that everything else is done, but wondering if your insurance will still find a reason to say no. So you're lucky, you have a clear-cut plan, an approval and a timeline, you're in great shape so far.

The next six months will be hard, but you're taking good steps learning how to eat properly and cutting out all the bad food. When you finally do get your band, you'll be ready to hit the ground running and you'll be a step ahead of all of us who waited until the time of our surgeries to learn how to eat and make the most of it.

I know waiting's hard, but with how fast time flies nowadays, 6 months will be over before you even know it!

(((((huge hugs)))))

I sure hope the 6 months goes by quickly. I think it will though because I have other appointments and such to goto while waiting, like the psych evaluation and all of these nutritional classes every other week. My mom keeps making my worry about the psych evaluation but I think I'll do fine. She can be frustrating. I just don't like waiting I have never been a patient person, it's hard.

Okay I have a question. I know my insurance approved to pay for this if I do the 6 month supervised diet which I am but after I do everything do I have to have it all sent in again and get approved again? I'm getting confused due to some posts I read lol.

If the insurance approved, they approved. However, if you're uncertain, it may be good to call the coordinator at your doctor's office, or someone on the office staff who handles insurance, and just have them confirm that this is an official approval, and nothing further will be needed from insurance.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
