Recommended Posts

Friday I rec'd my approval letter from my insurance company!! I was so excited I cried, then I called my sister and she cried also (after calling me a sap)

So....Now what?? When will I start the liquid diet? I thought I had all the info I needed untill I got that letter and all of a sudden my brain blanked out all known info. HAHA :guess

Any way, I'm supposed to call my surgeon's office ( Dr. Cribbins) Monday to get a surg date. I don't know if I'll be able to sleep tonight....excitement reigns supreme!!

Hi guys!!

I have my surg scheduled May 6th....I'm a nervous wreck!!! I am so excited I can hardly contain myself. I have been going through my closet this week trying to find any of my "skinny" clothes (for me that is only a size 18 or 20) so I will have a couple of things to wear, Not much luck in that department though..I've been a size 22 for about 9 years and had gotten rid of most of my old clothes, so I guess I'll be hitting the thrift stores.. anybody know a good one in the Garland, Richardson Plano area??

Debby,

I'm in north Texas, Sachse actually which is a suburb of Dallas. Where are you?

Now we can support each other through this...

Where did you get your weight tracking thing that is with your signature??? I need to get one of those!! So I can see ho much I've lost. I have also decided to get a box of large paperclips, for every pound I loose I add 1 to the chain untill I have enough to hang in the bedroom... Just something visual for me to see the numbers...

Hi Christine,

Congrats on getting approved. I am still waiting. My daughter lives in Wylie and goes to church in Sachse so I come through there almost every week. Good luck on your surgery. Where are you having it?

Hey I like the paper clip thing! Very creative.

The ticker on the bottom of the posts. I'm no expert but go to the web site. Just click on one. Make it and Copy it, then paste is on your signature. I don't know how to change it except to do it again.

I'm getting excited! I needed to buy clothes for vacation to Disney the week before and I bought very sparingly because I hopefully won't need this size for long. My goal to to have a summer without the W on my size 18's (or 16's).

Who came up with that W system. It sucks emotionally.

Good luck on the waiting

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
