zoomomma 1 Posted May 3, 2008 It sounds like this is pretty much an outpatient surgery. What happens if they have to do an open surgery? Do you have to stay in the hospital? I have a lot of scar tissue from previous surgeries and they may have to do an open so I was wondering. Anybody out there have to have an open surgery rather than having it done laprascopically? How was it? How big was the incision? Where was the incision? How was recovery? Sorry I'm asking so many questions, but I like to be prepared. I plan on discussing everything with my surgeon, but hearing from some one who has gone through it helps.
mss 1 Posted May 4, 2008 Sorry I haven't had the open surgery but I have a lot of scar tissue and adhesions from previous surgery which the surgeon was aware of. because of previous complications he told me that he would go in laparascopically and if he wasn't able to place the lapband this way he would have cancelled the surgery. When I woke up my first question was 'did he do it??'. Thankfully he did and from what I understand he spent a lot of time having to separate all of the scar tissue and had to make fewer incisions due to the scarring but it all worked out.
