mrsgriffin2u 1 Posted May 3, 2008 I am currently in F cup bras and am hoping after surgery these puppies will go down, but I'm concerned about bras. I pretty much HAVE to wear underwire because my breasts are so saggy and heavy. Many (actually all) of the women in my support group stated that they no longer wear underwire bras post surgery. Do any of you, or can any of you, wear underwire bras anymore? I'm actually planning on having a breast reduction after having children, but that is many years down the road. Is this something I need to bring up with my surgeon in order for him to position the port a little lower or something? Thanks! :confused2:
Christal 0 Posted May 3, 2008 Mine were probably close to a DD, but I still wear underwires AND my boobs have shrunk significantly. I am definately going to need a lift and a fill up! lol
Jessica Wren 0 Posted May 3, 2008 I wear under wire bras with no problem. I had my surgery on April 15th. I guess depending on where the incisions are depends on if the under wire bra would bother you or not. I would think that if that was the case once everything heals you wouldn't have a problem. But I'm not 100% sure of that because my my incisions are low enough not to be bothered by my bra. I never said anything to my surgeon but it concerns you I would bring it up! jbperry21 1 Posted May 3, 2008 My port incision and port are right below where my underwire hits on the right side. I couldn't wear a bra for more than an hour or two within the first two weeks. I'm a month out and I can wear a bra all day...though I can definitely feel a little pressure on my port that can get bothersome.
HarleyGirl 1 Posted May 3, 2008 I wore an underwire home from the hospital. My incisions were in places that it didn't/doesn't bother at all....
Jachut 487 Posted May 3, 2008 I wore an underwire bra home from the hospital too. I would never wear a non underwire bra, they just dont give you as good shape.
tarrn13 1 Posted May 3, 2008 I wore an underwire from the clinic also, why would everyone in your support group give up their bras?
Michee 2 Posted May 3, 2008 I too wore underwire home from the hospital. I started out as a G cup, I am now down to an E. If I get down to a D I can buy bras in the regular stores instead of the fancy (expensive) bra stores. My bras cost more than $150.00....grrrr. Right now I only have one in my size, I just wash it all the time. Do not buy lots of bras, cos those puppies are gonna shrink !
mrsgriffin2u 1 Posted May 3, 2008 Thanks so much guys! The ladies in my support group didn't give up they bras, just their underwire ones. Most of us had the same surgeon so maybe HE positions the port a little higher. If he had to wear a bra that probably wouldn't be the case! LOL I'll definitely address it with him pre-surgery. You guys are the greatest! :frown:
soriminah 0 Posted May 3, 2008 I'm an E cup and still wear underwires. My port is quite a bit lower than my bra line so it doesn't pose a problem with bras.
Hippiemama 1 Posted May 3, 2008 Still can't wear a bra (any) and I am one week post op. On of my incisions sits right on my bra line and kills when I try.
Pix 4 Posted May 3, 2008 I was told to invest in a good front closure sports bra.... I just don't know if they make them in my size .. hehe
Cota129 0 Posted May 3, 2008 My port sat about 2.5 inches below where the bottom of my bra set after my surgery. I used to wear the heavy-duty Playtex 18 hour bras, but last week-end got some very pretty underwire bras from Cacique because the girls are considerably smaller. What I didn't realize until I started to wear my new bras, is that my port is now higher and the underwire keeps bumping into it. The only thing that I can figure out is that because of exercise and my muscles getting stronger, that the port has moved up because of the muscle being more fit (?). I have to adjust the bra a bit on occasion so it's not riding on the port, but otherwise I have no problem.
kyteachjules 0 Posted May 3, 2008 I still wear underwires. My port is closer to my belly button, but I did have one tiny incision that was slightly irritated by my underwire bras when I first had surgery. I wore a sports bra (la uno booby) for about 2 weeks after surgery.
linksmom 0 Posted May 4, 2008 Ladies, whatever your losing, I will gladly take. I think I hit puberty and then everything stopped. I have wanted a boob job, longer than I have wanted weight loss surgery. I hoping that with my weight loss, I can get a breast augmentation in a year or so and have it be mostly paid for as a result of my weight loss. I understand your problems though, alot of my friends are very busty and are always complaining. They think I'm a nut that I "want there problems."
