Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! I just called my ins co and they said I was approved yesterday!! For being a not so patient person, I must say this whole process has mad me be patient to the end! Now I need to wait for a date!

I have been walking 4 miles a day, but the nutrionist said that walking isnt going to help my wt loss at all, that I need more wt bearing excersise- So I joined the gym, and I must say, I',m addidcted! I never thought this big ugly body would be addicted to exersise!

Is there anything else anyone can suggest that I do to pass the time by?

thanx for the support!

Hey Bandme  I too just joined the gym and I am hitting it hard and heavy.. alot of fun once u get past the burning in your muscles haha.

before and after banding you learn patience because we are always waiting on something... waiting on insurance, surgeons, doctors, then after waiting on fills, restrictions, sweet spots... believe me patiences is definetly a virtue.

I agree just don't do the whole farewell to food thing. If you must have a last walk down memory lane with food just make it 1 special day or a great night out or something with friends and family don't do a week long tour.

Plus your life of food isn't over it's just gonna change in a more healthy way. You will still be able to have that cake once in a great while... just instead of the whole cake you will only want a few bites and a few bites isn't so hard to work off at the gym.

Make sure you stock up on liquids for atleast the first week of your surgery. I kept broth, crystal lite, tons of Protein shakes around, ice chips in the freezer. I hate Jello but most like to keep that around in case your a sweets type person.

You'll be fine and it will all go much quicker than you realize. patience patience patience :)

Good luck!

Number ONE piece of advice I could give you is:

DO NOT GO ON THE FAREWELL TO food TOUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL!!! I think I have been on that tour for about a month now. I know my husband thinks he needs to be on it - "I sure am gonna miss your cookin'!" But this week, I realized that I am mentally tired of FOOD!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
