Can bandsters eat corn on the cob?

Recommended Posts

I was just banded on April 28 and will see the nutritionist in about a week but I was wondering... are bandsters allowed to eat corn on the cob? Even if it's just a little, I'd be happy.

I've had two fills and am still able to eat it, althought only one of the little half cobbettes or a half cobb. I used to eat 4 ears!!!! It's one of my faves too. But what I'm wondering is how the heck are you affording it? It's a dollar an ear here!!!!!! I REFUSE to pay that when they were 8 for a dollar last year...... miserable criminals..... LOL

I eat it and am fine. Haven't had a problem yet (but I'm on fill number 2).

I really am realizing everyone is different. I know people who can't eat bread once they're banded- but I can eat bread as long as I chew.

I eat it with no problems, as has been said-----chew like crazy, and I would reccoment waiting until you are well into solid foods for awhile, it is a hard food to digest, so no sense in overworking the stomach too early.

I read about the price of corn going sky high due to the use of it in biofuel productions..........or as a result of researching fuel alternatives, they are able to get a better price for it than when we were just eating it!!!

I have a hard time believing that the price of corn is going up because of research into alternative fuels, it is a different variety of corn. I would believe it is labor costs of harvest and fuel prices to get it to market. the farmers sure aren't getting the price increase.

I love corn on the cob in the summer! I can't eat a whole cob anymore, not after eating my Protein first. And watch the butter intake.

I can still eat corn on the cob but only one of the mini ears! That seems to satisfy the corn cravings.

Gosh I hope so!! I live in Nebraska...you know the CORNHUSKERS!? Hahaha!! Here you can buy it at the farmer's markets or fresh fruit and veggie stands, they don't charge much at all. I'll have to ship out some Husker corn to you guys

I read an article recently that a whopping 25% of our corn production is going to the production of biofuel. This fuel is only releiving 1% of our demand for petroleum. Is it REALLY worth that? Many third world nations depend on corn as a staple food, and now the poor in these countries are starving. Some have seen rioting in competition for the corn. Also....What do livestock eat? Corn... So expect that nice rib eye, pork roast and lamb chop to double soon as well. I'm already paying $8.50 a pound for steak and $3.29 a pound for lean hamburger. think of all the foods that utilize corn products. As bandsters we are well aware of all the foods that contain corn syrup! Not to mention Corn flakes and MANY Breakfast cereals, tortillas, corn meal, corn oil, cornbread.... We're making really bad world decisions......We have wind and solar power readily available, and the technology for Water power and electric vehicles, why mess with a food source?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
