I'm back! After 2 1/2 months off for plastic surgery and then my daughter's wedding. It feels wonderful to be moving again. I've been walking about 3 miles a day for the last 3 weeks and I started back with my trainer last week. I've lost some strength, but the my form is still good. Feels very strange sometimes on my tummy. Lots of new aches and pains and my knees are acting up. I really need to get back into shape, because my knee problems were a thing of the past before the big break. I start back with my pilates instructor on Tuesday. I've really missed the group and exercising. I didn't know how much it did for my mentally as well as physically. I want to lose the last 15 pounds and can really use the support, so I'm going to start reporting in. Nice to catch up with some of you and read about the new members of this thread! JMCambra: What kind of program did the nutrionist put you on? I need to shake things up a bit.

Ok, been having problems with the site locking up my computer over the last couple of weeks so I haven't been able to post on here. However, I have been doing my workouts faithfully.

I'll start back up on the posting now that the problems seem to have gone away.

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to say hi and was wondering if I could join you in June! Will you be starting a new thread this month?

Several of you I know or have exchanged posts with already, Ceradad, Whosyaddady (Hi Daddy !), Kareyquilts, Luluc, but I'm not sure how you do things around here, so please fill me in if there is anything I need to know.

I will not be working out the entire month as I am having some surgery done next Friday, but I am going to try to get 8 workout sessions in between now and then, and I am currently working my way through the Couch to 5K running program.

Have a great night everyone :smile2:!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
