Normal. You're going in for surgery (albeit a simple one - it is surgery nontheless). You'll be fine - the procedure is simple and the recovery is quick. I walked out of the hospital 4 hours after my surgery and was on the treadmill the next day. It is a great tool and keep thinking of the benefits you and it will provide for you in the long term.

Completely normal! There's a few threads on just this topic here - I think the longest one is called "Nervous".

You'll be fine! And later you'll be even more fine!

Yeah, just keep walking. It helps (but you probably knew that from reading the boards). The discomfort gets better very soon. You'll be losing like crazy before you know it.

Yeah, walking is key! Key to getting rid of gas pain, key to losing weight, key to getting places when your car is in the shop...

Way to go, RAS. You're on your way now. I found that after I had my surgery a lot of the things that the guys in here talked about made a lot more sense. Like getting things "stuck" and not being able to eat but just a tiny bit of food at a time. Good luck, man.

RAS, I think it's normal to feel nervous I know I was. The procedureis over before you know it and the results are worth it. I was banded on 1/26/08 and my wt was 304 lbs. i weighed today and I am at 211. Still a little way to reach wy goal but I'll get there and I bet you can make yours too. Good luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
