And I am also a teacher---ESE, K-5! I love the date because I have a few days after school ends on the 4th to rest, and nearly 2 weeks before summer school starts to get used to the band and get back into things. I am soooo looking forward to this. Since November, I have only lost 14 pounds and it has been hard going! I'm hoping that the band gets me jump-started to lose at a normal rate, especially since I have so much to lose!

I am also being banded on June 10th, and I am also a teacher! I work with young kiddos with Autism. I love it and I will love it more when I can gracefully hop up off the floor in my classroom without any issues. Go June bandsters!!!

Anyone getting nervous? I am nervous and excited. Ready for it to be over with. I was supposed to have my last preop appt. today but it had to be rescheduled to tomorrow (yep a Saturday!) I was surprised at that. I am scared I haven't lost enough on my preop diet. I have lost about 6 or 7 pounds. Hopefully that is enough. My BMI is 43 so I just pray that my liver is not too large! But overall since November I have lost about 25 lbs.

Nannypants, I had to laugh at your "gracefully hop off the floor".....:( If I ever got on the floor, it would be because I fell and I would need help to get up. Graceful would never be part of the picture for me! Good luck everyone! Tuesday is just around the corner and I cannot wait!

June must be the month for teachers! I received my approval in March and decided to wait until summer vacation. My surgery date is this Tuesday, 6/24. I'm so excited (and nervous) to start my new life! It wll be such a blessing not to be exhausted and wanting to take a nap when I get home from school when I lose weight.

P.S. Nannypants, I haven't sat on the floor in years! I think I'd need the

fire department to give me a boost..(the kids would love that I'm sure):biggrin2:

Congratulations Justjan! But I have to tell you, I have many "skinny" teacher friends who are totally exhausted at the end of the day! I think it is a far more strenuous occupation than most people believe---those little darlings keep us busy, don't they? Summer school just started for me today, and with the air conditioning out, I was grateful to have just gotten a short hair cut and to have the lost the weight I have so far---even so, it was miserably hot! Hahaha!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
