hey bandsters!

I was wondering, how many of you had a catheter inserted for surgery? I am NOT looking forward to that part!!!!

My doctor didn't put one in me. He said he normally doesn't. I think the only time they have to do that is if you can't pee after the surgery. At least that's what he told me.

They told me if I could go p** that he would not put it in. So right before they wheeled me into surgery they had taken me potty and stood outside and waited for me to go. Thank God I went!!

Mine was put in after I was asleep and came out in recovery before I fully woke up. They are not bad.

Yep, I had one....

They told me that everyone gets one no matter what since they are paralyzing certain things for the surgery. It was put in after I was asleep and taken out before I woke up in recovery. I knew I had one because immediately when I woke up I had to go to the bathroom.

That was the first thing I did when I woke up in recovery was ask to go to the bathroom.

It wasn't bad don't worry about it.

I doubt a catheter is necessary in a surgery so short.

I had one for a surgery for which I had to remain in bed for several hours afterwards.

I have to tell you, I LOVED it!

It felt great to not have to 'hold it' all the time & just relax. :biggrin2:

I think it is a very different experience for men.

Normally for short surgeries they don't put them in. They do however insert them for gastric bypass patients. It's true that they go in while your asleep.

I think I had one because I didn't have to use the bathroom for a couple of hours after my surgery. I don't remember it going in or coming out so it couldn't have been too bad.

I usually have one during surgery but they put it in and take it out while you are sleeping. When they put you to sleep pretty much everything relaxes and it's better than wetting the floor all up. So you shouldn't notice it at all if they give you one.

i didn't have a catheter but i bet the nurse wished i had lol

when i was in recovery and still REALLY out of it i told the nurse i had to go pee. she rolled me over and put me on top of a bed pan. i don't even remember how long i stayed like that but when she came back i told her i couldn't go.

next thing i know they're rubbing something on my lower abdomen and the nurse said "honey, there is absolutely nothing in there."

i guess i didn't have to pee after all lol

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
