What a Difference .1cc makes!

Recommended Posts

On Monday, I went in to have a very slight unfill (0.1 cc) as I have struggled for the last 2 months with 6.0cc and I finally decided that I was just a bit too tight and it wasn't getting any better. The only good thing that come from 7 weeks of discomfort is that I lost 18 lbs! :biggrin2:

So, my dr. brought me back to 5.9cc (I was at 5.8 before and felt I needed more) and I am amazed at how much difference this slight change has made.

I still have awesome restriction minus the difficulty eating (sometimes for a full day), so I am officially in my "sweet spot".

Awesome! I didn't think I would ever get here, so don't give up hope!

Good luck to you all!

Reading stories like yours give me hope... I am a new bandster. March,'08, and had my first fill yesterday.... I had 3cc added during surgery and 1 more cc yesterday. I am still very hungry.... I initially lost weight but ate the past 3 weeks waiting for my first official fill. I was hungry all of the time, and gained 2 pounds....

I don't feel any more restriction today with a total of 4cc and I don't yet feel less hunger.

I now realize, what every one has been saying, duh!!!!, that this is only a tool, and I NEED to WATCH everything I am eating...and it is soooooo easy to eat sugar. And NOT to grab for something because it goes down easily.... (What was I thinking???).

I know I have to give it time to work, but reading posts like you wrote, tells me I have a way to go..Thanks for the info on tweaking the cc's......

Hey hvnagdtme,

Im am right there with you. I have currently 2.7 in my 4cc band. And Im to tight.I have been trying to live with it for 12 days now.I thought it was gettin better but its not.I can get Water and Soups down. Just not solids.

After gettin stuck again today and having to get rid of it today in a co-workers car I came right back to work and called and made me a appt...

I wont be able to get in till next Wed the 7th. But Im going. Im hoping maybe just take out like .2 or .1 anything for relief and be able to eat.

I was loving the weightloss. almost 9 lbs in 12 days.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
