don't forget the miso Soup. super low in calories and oh so good. my last dinner b4 my surgery was NY Steak and Sushi. oh yeah, and a cup of chili.

i know how to do it right.

but thanks for the intel. i'll be doing a little shasimi and miso as soon as i'm allowed.

Sushi is my favorite food ever! I don't know what I'd do if I was at full restriction and couldn't eat it, since I've heard some people have a problem with rice. I guess that's an excuse to go and try to savor it in the next few days until I get my 2nd fill, just in case...

I've eaten it several times. Some places have stickier rice than others. while I like the really sticky rice, my band is not fond of it. So now I'm a bit more choosy about where I go to eat it.

I love sushi. When I am restricted I can't eat the rice but love the sashimi and tartar. Also I ask them to do the rolls without rice sometimes.

I love sushi, but I am way more picky now :wink2:

With the band, since you have to chew-chew-chew, you get to savor every flavor, and I have now realized some places do not use good seaweed for example. Sometimes, that's all that's left in my mouth after all the chewing, and the seaweed is horrible tasting (really fishy at some places). Sometimes I spit the seaweed out when I get to it.

Other than the seaweed, I have never PB'd on sushi.

OK. one day 9 i went out for sushi. 3 pieces of shashimi (sp?) and teriyaki chicken.

i over did it on the chicken - but it was all so good.

then a few days later i went out with the Ms. and had some more.

3 pieces of shashimi (tuna works well, red snapper didn't (too chewy)), miso Soup and some scallops dynamite. the scallops were a little to stringing once i chewed them, so i didn't eat much.

i love that i'm learning what works, what doesn't.

sushi is my favorite of all time! i took someone's advise and requested it be cut into smaller pieces. i've also learned to eat sashimi instead, i didn't do well with the rice. but heck, then i'm getting great Protein, so not complaining. but now, i need to figure out my faves and only order a couple of those instead of combos. combos are too much food for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
