MissieLyn 1 Posted April 30, 2008 My doctor says I'm going to be on 1 week liquid, 1 week full liquid, then 2 weeks pureee. I was just curious on what everyone else had for a schedule. The gal I talked to kept confusing me with the bypass patients and their diet so I'm going to confirm with them tomorrow.
Lizalee 1 Posted April 30, 2008 Hi MiIssieLyn From what I've heard on this site, there is a WIDE variety of pre and post op diet plans. It varies by doctor/program. I had 1-2 days of Clear Liquids, then 2 days of 'full' liquids, then 2 weeks of pureed food, and now I'm on soft foods (eggs, cheese, Soups, well-chewed soft meats - chicken, tuna, fish, cereals, etc) for 2 weeks, before adding more regular foods up to about 1 1/2 cups. They stress 60 - 80 grams of Protein a day, 64 oz Water, and low fat/high quality healthy foods. I'm still using Protein Shakes to get enough Protein.< /p> Hope that helps. I'm sure others will give you different progressions and time lines.
Onnie67 0 Posted April 30, 2008 I will be on the same diet as Lizalee.... they really stress the protein..i am supposed to have 70-80gms per day...and they prefer 23-24gms per meal...
BobbieDoll 3 Posted May 1, 2008 My instructions were 5 to 7 days of liquids and Protein Shakes. Next I can add any of these 5 items: (1 ounce at a time, 2 to 3 hours apart) refried Beans, sugar-free pudding, low-fat yogurt, egg beaters, low-fat cottage cheese. Next I go on soft foods but don't know what they are. I have to go to a soft foods class next week. I am suppose to get 65 grams of Protein per day. Lots of Water. I drink a bottle of Isopure, which is 30 grams. I mix whey powder in skim milk and blend it in the Magic Bullet. Taste like a chocolate shake. whey has 23 grams of Protein in one scoop. I use 1 1/2 scoops. I have not been hungry. I ate an ounce of refried Beans this evening and it filled me up.
tarrn13 1 Posted May 1, 2008 I had 3 weeks of full liquids post op and then could eat real food after that. The 3 week rule was if I could drink it I could have it but that did not mean milkshakes!! Soups, yogurts, popsicles, I took marinara and Pasta, blended it and made it really runny, Protein Shakes etc... It was fine but boy was I ready for eat real food day!! Hippiemama 1 Posted May 1, 2008 I'm on clear for 5 days, full for a week, then pureed for 2 weeks.
JJJmylove 0 Posted May 1, 2008 I had 2 weeks of "anything that could run off a spoon". I stuck to thin Soups, sugar free pudding, broth, and Protein Shakes.< /p> After that i had a week of puree....really didnt follow it, i just chewed really well and mushed up everything i ate. Now almost 4 weeks out im eating anything i want. I went for my first fill today, and i eat some beef stew afterwords. But i still mushed it, because i didnt want to get anything stuck. So far so good!
dmu 0 Posted May 1, 2008 I'm scheduled to be banded in 2 weeks. But I've received my post-op diet and it says: 1 week liquids, then 1 week Soups, then 1 week mushies, then soft meats. At week 5 there are no more restrictions.
Storms75 0 Posted May 1, 2008 Wow, reading everyone else's diets I am thinking my Doctor is nuts!!! I have to have Clear Liquids plus Protein Shakes for THREEEEEE weeks! Then I go to mushy and Soups for a week, then regular food after that. I had my surgery on 4/24 so I'm almost at one week and already going crazy. I now HATE Jello. I don't think I can handle this clear liquids and Protein Drinks diet for two more weeks. Also - I have to have 90 grams of Protein per day. Fortunately I do like the GNC soy Protein drinks. And on the plus side, one week in and I've lost 14 pounds. I have my one-week appointment Friday and I'm going to ask if it's really really necessary to wait three weeks to have Tomato Soup or tofu... Sorry for my rant - I'm hungry and I had my first day back at work today. Sarah Banded 4/24/08 Start: 238 pounds Now: 224 pounds
