I started my journey towards Lap Band in January 2008, my surgery is to be sometime in July.

I am starting to get a little nervous about what is to come.

I'm doing well reminding myself eat every few hours small amounts of food to keep my metabolism up and re-training myself.

I also carry a water bottle around with me constantly so I remind myself to get enough fluids.

I am going to Pittsburgh Bariatrics in Fox Chapel area (St. Margaret's Hospital) and my doctors are Dr. Means and Dr. Quinlin. They tell me that this particular place is a "Source of Excellence" in the bariatrics arena.

I enjoy going to the meetings every month and have learned so much about the body and food.

I have always thought that I was the "Queen of Diets" over the last 40 years, I would lose 60-70 pounds and then put it back on and more in 5 years.

Like I said I've learned a lot since I started this retraining.

I'm not a sweet eater, but I have a habit of not eating all day and eating too much in the evening (volume). I have been attemping to change that.

I'll told I am a perfect candidate for Lap Band.

I have been extremely active over the years even with the weight, but I have a back problem that has been keeping me from doing the things I want to do. Hopefully losing the weight will improve this!!

Welcome to the forum! It sounds like you are doing a great job of preparing yourself and learning new habits! Most of us were yo-yo dieters also, and the band is a great tool to keep you on track. Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
