I have only been able to get in about 20 grams of Protein in the last 2 1/2 days. I cannot drink one more Protein shake. What can I do on my liquid diet to get my required amount of protein. This liquid diet is driving me crazy.

proud dad - if you like egg drop Soup (and I did live on it) below is an outline of it's nutrional value:

I ate alot of the high Protein Jello. I put either the vanilla Unjury with any flavor jello (sugar free) and then some sugar free cool whip. I also used the strawberry sorbet unjury with any of the red jellos. They have chocolate that I mixed with soy milk and a couple of ice cubes in the blender. I don't blen very hard or it gets too much air in it. I couldn't handle the chicken Soup unjury but personal preference. mama59

IDS New-whey Protein Bullets (3.1 oz). They have 42 grams of Protein in only 3 ounces of fluid!! They come in fruity flavors...grape, punch, orange, bluerazzberry. You can get them at GNC, Vitamin World (cheapest), bariatriceating.com. I swear by them because I only need 4.5 oz. (1.5 bullets) to get all my protein for the day.

I use the Medifast 55 shakes (these are for women and the Medifast 70 shakes are for men) which I like 10 times more than the Unjury. They just don't taste so medicinal and they have several flavors, chocolate, strawberry, banana, Vanilla, Orange Creme and Mocha (which can be heated like a hot chocolate). I'm a picky eater and these honestly just taste like real good flavored shakes. They have 15 grams Protein and I add in a scoop of powdered protein to add another 7 grams. 2 or 3 of these and you have most of your protein in for the day. I also added scoops of powdered protein to cream Soups like Tomato or Cream of chicken and to sugar free puddings. It doesn't change the taste at all. You can go to: Medifast | Shop Medifast

I'm telling you, you won't be sorry.

Good luck to you all

Yvonne

These are what I'm using too and I LOVE them. I bought the fruit punch, grape and orange flavors and I swear they're a life saver! Two swallows and I've got 42 grams of protein out of the way for the day. I was really struggling with getting all of my protein in until my dietician told me about these "shots".

I also add a scoop of vanilla unjury to a sugar-free Carnation instant Breakfast for a little something sweet in the evenings.

my nutritionist suggestion making power Protein milk (8oz of milk either skim or 1% mixed with 1/3 cup of dry milk =16 gms of protein.

Use this to make puddings, creamed Soups, mashed potatoes, whatever you would use milk in...

I also use the power protein milk with an instant Breakfast for 23gms of protein in 1 8 oz serving.

Do you like cottage cheese or ricotta cheese?? they are also high in protein...there is a great recipe here for "fake lasagna" that is very tasty...

I agree with the New Whey Protein bullets, they are awesome and more than half your days protein in one dose. Not bad tasting and portable. The rest of your protein should be from food, fish, chicken, etc.

My surgeon had not heard of these so I took him one and he said that it was a good way to go. Hope that helps abd good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
