Well ladies and gents my pre op appt is done. I have a whole in my arm from taking blood (3 dang vials) on my first day of preop diet...talk about dizzy. Atkins shakes arent bad, love the cafe mocha..the vanilla is not the best but I drank it. I ate a banana and some grapes, cottage cheese and then I drank broth and boy oh boy does it need salt..but I didnt add it, instead I use Mrs. Dash's table blend.

So I am going a little crazy...no nicotine, no real food and my boobs hurt so bad that I think I'm getting ready for my period...which of course is probably gonna show up the day of surgery.:sad::blushing: how embarrassing!!!

So for the next few days I'm gonna need y'all support through this pre op diet...

blessings to all:wub:

Where is this surgery happening? I'm 3 dr. visits out of 6 with Blue Cross toward getting approved. Let's certainly hope they approve me. And I do have the psych visit as well to do. So, I'm about 3 months away from talking to BCross. The reality it could happen is beginning to set in. Oh, I'm 320 headed toward 180.

Good Luck!! I started my period the day of the surgery, but they were very nice about it and gave me a pair of paper underwear with a pad in it. It will be okay! Don't worry!!!

Best of luck to you -- I'm on day 6 of nothing BUT liquid Protein shakes. I've got my pre-op w/the Surgeon on Friday and then we're GOOD to GO...

Hang in there -- it's not as bad as you think. Think about all the benefits down the road.

Well I have a high white blood cell count...had to rush to hospital to get lab work done so i can get on antibiotics before next week's surgery...it turns out I have bladder infection.....the pre op diet is really hard

i'm eating more cottage cheese than I think I'm allowed, but I'm drinking bouillon cubes, broth, Protein Shakes and lots of sf popscicles

and sf Jello and light yogurt....so hopefully my liver will shrink from me just eating that stuff..what do you thinK?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
