Fanny Adams 7 Posted April 30, 2008 Congrats! I think quick is the best way to go, provided you have put in sufficient forethought and research time before asking for the surgery. I spent a couple of months seriously researching the op (after dreaming about it for years), then had to wait 6 weeks between getting the referral from my GP and my appointment with the surgeon. That was mostly because of my own schedule though - I work away from home 8 days out of 14. At the first surgeon's consultation, he said "let's do it!" and made the booking for the op on the spot - for only 2 weeks later. Then, about 5 days before the op, he called and said he had a cancellation and had an opening even sooner! I ended up going under the knife only 12 days after the consultation! It was a whirlwind and felt frighteningly fast, even though I had spent so much time thinking about it beforehand, but it did have the advantage that I didn't have much time to fret about it. How exciting for you!! Good luck!

To be free 1 Posted May 1, 2008 Wow, I am so jealous, but in a good way! I went for my last test, a monometry test (not very pleasant) last Thursday with the surgeon's nurse he said I did ok and that he would give my file to the surgery schedualer and I thought I would have a surgery date by now. I sent a email asking what is my date and no response. I do know though that my surgeon requires a two week pre-op diet so it won't be before two weeks, but I just want a date!!! Enough about me......Congratulations, I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Still jealous though LOL
brownie58 0 Posted May 1, 2008 Just got my surgery date also, 28th of May just have 1 more visit with dietian, and shrink then will be sent to insurance
boredryu 0 Posted May 2, 2008 I'm in the same boat. I got my approval letter on Saturday. Called the insurance rep on monday, faxed it over monday mid-morning. Had my pre-op scheduled for Wednesday and my surgery scheduled for the following wednesday (may 7th). It really has to do with the insurance and the testing. A surgeon loves to cut, and as long as you can afford it and the tests show you can handle it they'll do it! Good luck, we are getting banded on the same day! Bandme08 0 Posted May 2, 2008 I hear you! My insurance approval took 4 hours- it took longer for my surgeons office to get the paper in the mail!! The next month looks to be a busy one with trainer appts and final consults- maybe banding in June...Man would I love a cancellation and be able to go by the end on May!!
SeattleSweetie 5 Posted May 3, 2008 That's awesome for you! It took me about three months all together. I went to my first seminar with my current doctor on Jan 24th, had my first consultation appt two weeks later, spent a month on tests and waited a month for insurance approval, and now my surgery is on Monday. All said, just over three months.
