Well, I drove all the way to Nashville (3 hours) to have my second fill only to be told that the nurse in Dr. Morton's office could not do it. I had spoken to her twice on the phone and she told me if she could not find my port she would send me to the hospital to do it under x-ray. When I asked how much she told me she didn't know but the hospital would bill me. When I got there on Thursday she was delayed in surgery, they had already called and tried to reschedule and I refused because I had driven so far. She couldn't feel my port but I don't believe she tried or desired to. I can feel it when I lay down so I am sure she could have. She said it was too deep to do it in the office. I respect that and it did not upset me but the fact that she didn't tell me over the phone that they charge $350 to do the fill at the hospital and the hospital charges $450 really made me mad. Especially considering I had asked her that over the phone and she knew I was driving a long ways to boot. Anyway, I have been terribly depressed. I now have a fill scheduled in Dalton for Wednesday but I hate that it costs around $800 to do it here. I was sure looking forward to paying the $150!!! Hopefully this will last me like my last one. It has been three months since I had a fill but it has been about three weeks since I have needed one. I will ask for an aggressive fill this time. Perhaps 4cc since I have the 11cm band. I only got 3cc my first fill. Wish me luck!

Thanks for all the support!

Dear Soon2bskinny

I am going for my first fill this Saturday Sept 20th. I noticed that you are in Chatsworth. Why don't you drive to TJ and have it done there. I called a doctor yesterday in Bellflower and boy they were so rude and made such a big deal out of injecting salt Water into my port. First they wanted me to go for a consultation $150, then set up a time for the 10 minute procedure and go back a second time (mind you it is an 1 1/2 hour drive) and pay another $300 for the fill.

My surgeon was in TJ and they charge $150. So I decided to make a weekend out of it. So I am leaving Friday, spend the night, have the fill Saturday and drive back.

I 'll be more than happy to give you his information. If you're going to spend $800 at least make it a little getaway as well.

Thanks Beebly, but I live in Chatsworth, Georgia! I plan on attending the Bandster Bash next year in TJ. I got my fill in Dalton, close to here on Wednesday so today I am doing mushy stuff. Seem to have lots of restriction so far will know more in a day or two. Thanks again for your help.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
