Hi Dennis and welcome to LBT! Your head will be full of questions after your seminar tonight and this is a great place to get them answered. Good luck to you!

Hi Dennis-

good luck at the seminar. I had surgery almost 2 yrs ago in St. louis. Weight loss has been very slow for me (which is not the norm). Where is the seminar that you are going to?

Went to Alexius meeting at the Viking on Watson and Lindbergh. Full house. Seems to be Lap band is way to go as less invasive. However I have been a yoyo dieter for 30 some years with success but went back to old ways of eating a large volume of good type foods, meats and potatoes. My head doesn't let me know I am full till a large amount of food goes in. Thinking that the smaller stomach would help me over the edge?

Does any one have Cigna POS and how hard was it to get certified?

Where in SC? Brother and mother live in Charleston.

I live in Sumter, about 1.5 hours from Charleston. We love that area and go there as often as we can. So are you from SC or are they transplanted?

The appetite issue is why I chose the band. I need the restriction the band provides to make me physically unable to eat mass quantities of food. I think my biggest problem is going to be eating more slowly. I try to do it now, but get frustrated rather quickly and just eat normally.:smile2: I've GOT to do better with that!

As for your insurance question, check the financing and insurance thread. Also, call your company and request a copy of their policy on WLS. When you go in for your first appointment with your surgeon they will also probably give you information, but I wantesd to know ahead of time so I didn't get any surprises about my insurance's requirements.

Good luck!

They are transplanted. My brother had a bad case of Missouri allergies as he grew up. He left after high school. My parents went to Florida first in 85 and then Charleston around 10 years later.

Oh, ok. Then I bet he really gets it bad this time of year with all of the pollen here. Do you get down this way to visit much?

Hi Dennis-

I had gone to a few seminars before I had surgery, and they were always packed! I ended up going with a doctor from DePaul Weight loss Institute. My big problem is not quantity any more, its quality! My advice it to really follow the doctor's orders and it will be successful!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
