Too much to handle

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

It's just over 2 months after I was banded and I am so frustrated.

  1. My doctor wouldn't listen to me and treated me like a hypochondriac when I was in pain
  2. As a result, I abcessed and had infection in my stomach.
  3. I have a 2-inch deep hole where my big incision is that I have to pack with gauze 2 times a day, every day. It hurts really bad when I do it.
  4. I have no appetite at all, which means I'm losing weight, but in a very unhealthy way because everything makes me feel nauseated.
  5. The antibiotics I'm on have side-effects of throwing up and nausea... both of which I don't need.
  6. Next week is finals week... I have to ask several professors for an incomplete due to my health. The infection has sucked all of my strength and energy out. I just can't do it anymore. What's worse is that I'm mad at everyone out there with any energy. I hate being the person who's always half-dead. I can't even really do dishes or something now without feeling like I'm going to fall over.

Sigh.

Dear Ice456,

I am so sorry to hear that you are having such a terrible time but hang in there! How aweful it is that your pain was brushed aside and now you have to pay for their actions. Is there someone else in that office you can see instead for your follow ups? I have a cyst on my tailbone that I have to pack with guaze too and antibiotics that make me nausious. I take them at night though, maybe that would help? I am so sorry you have to put off school, that can be so frustrating. If you can, look to the future and think about how amazing you are going to feel when all this "stuff" as passed. Hang in there and know that everyone here is always here for for you!

Kelly

Since you mentioned your incision got infected, Im wondering if that is a common thing?

Im not banded, so I cant say I know how you feel, but I had a C-section last year that got serverely infected, and I was MISERABLE for weeks...so I can relate...somewhat.

Be well!

Ice:

I have issues with nausea when I have pain meds. Recently when I had my gallbladder out the doctor prescribed compazine suppositories. They were great for the nausea and you can hardly tell they're up your butt once they are there. You might want to ask for this to get rid of your nausea. Last thing you want to do when your tummy hurts is throw up.

Hope you feel better soon.

Take care.

Sue

I don't know if it'll help, but it certainly can't hurt... have you been taking Vitamins? Might help with the malnutrition issues.

Hope you get healed and better soon, and this all just becomes a distant memory

Thanks everyone for your replies...

I was taking Vitamins but I can't figure out where exactly I put them..

I got the surgeon to prescribe some anti-nausea pills.... hope it works.

I am having surgery next Friday... he said that it will be a much bigger wound to pack, which im not looking forward to.

2 of my professors so far are willing to give me incompletes.. so thats good. i dont know about the other 2 though

Hey Ice, just a suggestion-- if your two other professors give you friction about getting an incomplete, you could try talking to your academic advisor. He or she will be able to advocate for you. You might even want to meet with your advisor before talking to the other two professors, because the advisor might be able to intercede on your behalf.

Good luck, and I hope you heal quickly!

Couldn't hurt to call the dean of your department or the physician at your school's infirmary either. So sorry you are going through all this. My son is off at college and I worry about him being sick or injured. Do you have family to help out nearby? Best wishes to you. Hang in there.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
