Has anyone tried or considered getting involved in Pilates? I just order a pilates machined from QVC Saturday. It looked great and seemed to be everything I need to substitute for me not being able to get to the gym on a regular basis. Tell me what you all think!

I'm considering pilates on the advice of the physio - apparently he thinks part of the problem with my back is an imbalance between the strength of my hip, buttock and hamstring muscles with my abdominals from all of the running I do. My abs are pretty strong, but my back is much stronger!

I like the kind of body pilates and yoga gives, much more so than getting chunky from lifting weights, its strong yet graceful.

Hi, I love Pilaties. Well, used to.

When I was on Atkins years back I did the Windsor Pilaties program. I got down to 136 and my shape was perfect.

But after moving out of the country and back in....having an extra 100 lbs on me...I just couldn't get back in the swing of things.

But I do remember liking it, finding it easy and fun.

This resort town I used to live in had a Pilaties place...had machines/tables...whatever. Was really ritzy.

Before you buy one, new, I'd check out Craigslist or other classified...you could save yourself a bundle.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
