Hi there,

I had my band fitted 9 months to go, i have lost slowly throughout, -45lbs, another 30 to go. I seem to have hit a plateau and can't get the scale to move anymore, its been over a month, I am very discouraged and don't know what to do. I have increased my Protein intake, I have gone on liquids for a few days, all this try and shake-up my system......but it's not working. I don't know what to do. Please help me to get my scale moving again!!!

Thanks

I have had some long plateaus. Do you exercise?

I would never have been able to make it to goal without exercise.

Don't give up, it is within your reach. Look how far you've come!!! You are more than 1/2 way to your goal!!!

I'm at a plateau and it is frustrating. However, I've had these plateaus before and it eventually it moves. But I have to kick it into high gear to do this, AND I can not give into doubtful feelings. In other words, I have to be open to really putting forth extra effort and not saying "I've already done all of this, it's hopeless." So though it is frustrating, I'm hopeful.

HOWEVER, I've had some high sodium Proteins and my carbs have been up higher than I had them initially.

Do you keep track of the number of carbs you eat?

Here are some suggestions:

FIRST, believe you can do this. If you let doubt creep in and bring you down you may sabotage yourself by living up to your own 'doubtful' expectations. Be your own Cheerleader!!!!:coolgleamA:

Make sure you have the right 'fill' (search this forum for help on this). If not then take action, make an appointment.

Start tracking every morsel you put in your mouth. Sometimes we are eating things that may not be the best for Lap Band people. Remember high Protein, low carb is the best for us.

Get all your Water in

Make sure you have 90 grams of Protein. Start your day with a high Protein shake, and end your day with one for an evening snack.< /span>

Keep carbs to 50 or less

Shake up your exercise, do something different, if you walk then try an aerobics video, etc. Keep a set of hand weights by your desk, or TV and do them periodically throughout the day.

Stop eating 2 hours before bedtime or set a permanent time like no eating after 7PM

Eat protein every 1.5 - 2 hours, something small like a few nuts, a spoonful of PB, a half ounce of cheese, keep the metabolism boosted all day so it does not slow down to conserve (often people will think they should skip eating to lose weight but instead their bodies will slow down burning much needed fuel) I was told to even set an alarm to beep every 2 hours so that I wouldn't forget.

GET Sleep! See this article at WebMD: The Dream Diet: Losing Weight While You sleep

I hope this helps you. I'm going to get into gear and follow my own advice. We'll get that scale moving soon.:cool2:

sorry to hear you havent lost any weight, but what about measurements? did you take them pre-op? compare the numbers. if you didnt take them preop, take them now and then next month.

also, i suggest changing your exercise routine, ramp it up a bit.

good luck, you'll get there!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
