kraziekeysha 0 Posted April 28, 2008 I was scheduled to have surgery on April 30th. However, I have a staf infection on my stomach and the surgery has to be cancelled for now. This isn't the first time I had this. I was hospitalized in January for MRSA, and since then it has come back 2 times. The nurse where I go says I shouldn't have the surgery right now because the band can get infected too. Now I am scared to have the surgery at all because this infection seems to keep coming back. Also, I know someone who had a hernia surgery and got MRSA and it keeps coming back and its really bad. I don't want to end up like this. Right now my head is going crazy. I go to see my regular doctor tomorrow about the infection so I guess I will see what she says. I have lost almost 30 pounds on my own since March and now wonder if I should do this. Has anyone else had MRSA and still had the surgery?
la8again 0 Posted April 29, 2008 Hey I dont want to be a bummer but I did want to let you know a little about mrsa. My step mother has it and has for about 4 years. It started on her upper left thigh and has now moved all down her left leg, moved to her right spread through it, and now she has a spot on her back. She has had 18 surgeries in 3 years and after surgery they have to leave her wounds open. She has had up to 7 wounds open at a time and some of the holes have taken 17 months to heal. She has to pack them twice a day and clean them out. She has been wound free for about a year, but has had a few infections that just haven't fully "poped up" yet. The only medicne that seems to kinda keep it a bay is $100.00 a day and insurance will not pay for it. Thank God for the church helping with the price!!! I really hope you have much better luck with it. I am sooooo sorry for you haveing to go through this. I will pray for you.
kathystrick 3 Posted April 29, 2008 I would definitely have a serious diccussion about this with my PCP and possibly a specialist before even considering ANY non-essential procedure.
