It's my all time fave! Has anyone tried it post band? I think it might be difficult because of the injera. I'm thinking about breaking my pre-op to say goodbye. I know, I know, I have "last supper syndrome" but I feel like if I knew I'd be able to have it later - no big deal, but never again? What do you all thnk?

I eat Ethiopian food. I can tolerate injera. it's very moist and relatively easy to get down compard to most non-toasted breads I've tried (though I have no bread intolerances so far, it's just easier). If it proves to be a problem for you, just be "that" guy and ask for a fork.

Don't break your pre-op diet. There are posts & posts on why this is bad, including having surgery cancelled.

Okay, that makes me feel better. "Never" is a hard concept to swallow. I was just reading up on injera and it appears to be actually pretty good for you. Since it's made with teff it's gluten free and high in protien, Fiber and all sorts of minerals. I will wait. It's nice to have something to look forward to.

I love Ethopian. A lot of the foods are stewed, meat and veggies and all, and it's spicy, and warm and yummy! I haven't had a really hard time with the bread, it's spongey, a different consistency than your average bread, so as long as you take small bites and chew, it should be fine.

where do you all live that you can get Ethiopian food? ??? I'm all for trying new things, but they don't have anything like that in my neck of the woods. We just got a middle eastern restaurant. they have zuccinni fritters with fluffy eggs that are to die for. They put greek yogurt on top. YUM! But that's about as unusual as we get round here.....

I'm in Missouri. We only have one Ethiopian restaurant that I know of, but tons of Indian, Thai, Vietnamese, even a Polynesian.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
