It took a while, but I'm back!

Hi everyone!

I'm soooooooo happy to be home. I had my nose and chin surgery on the 31st and was banded on the 1st. It's been a tough recovery, but I feel great!

Dr. Sanchez and his staff were wonderful! I only got to see the doctor right before surgery, but he was very nice. Dr. Cardenas did my ps and he and his staff were unbelievably attentive. Dr. Cardenas came to check on me in the guest house two times a day, everyday!

The guest house is beautiful, but I wouldn't stay there again for a couple of reasons. My sister went with to Monterrey with me and she woke up screaming one night because a roach had crawled into bed with her. I saw a lot of roaches, in the bathroom, in the bedroom. I had a hard time sleeping because I was so anxious that I'd wake up with a roach buddy in bed with me. Dr. Cardenas even offered to give me some valium to help me sleep. I'm a little wierd about bugs, uggh.

I asked alma to move me out of the guest house and I chose to stay at the Radisson instead. I had to pay for the room myself, but at least I could sleep on a soft bed, in a roach-free, quiet room.

Overall, my experience was wonderful!! I highly recommend Dr. Sanchez and Dr. Cardenas to anyone who is considering ps or a band. The hospital was beautiful and so clean and the nurses were so courteous!

I've lost 13 pounds and feel great! I'm so glad I went through with this. My face is still all bruised and swollen, but I'll post some before and after pics once it deflates a little.

Sorry for being so gabby, it's great to be home! Thanks for listening! :banana

Welcome back and congratulations, sorry about your bug experience, I hate roaches and would be doing just exactly what you did. So you had ps? I am heading to Mexico possibly the end of June for a tt and body liposculpture, I am so excited, and a little scared, but mostly excited. Everynight I stand before the mirror, buck nekkid and look at my nasty stomach and fat bulges on my thighs and back and think that they will be gone and how wonderful it will feel to not have to pull my underwear over my belly bulge when it rolls down over it, LOL I found a underwear sale in Dillards this weekend and bought a tons of really cute CK underwear, I can't wear them yet, but hopefully I will be modeling them soon. So how do you feel? Please post pictures, so that we can see. I'm so excited for you. How wonderful you must feel and you have already lost 14 lbs, that's wonderful too. Well wishing you a speedy recovery and keep us posted and please post your pictures.

So Glad your Home!

Dang, I never saw a roach the 2 times I was there, I did kill a ckicket in the dinning room the first night now that I think about it. That would have freeked me out too. I'll have to inform Judy, she's going down at the end of the month.

It was nice to meet you and chat about all the body issues and PS.

Congratulations 13lbs is great!

Congratulations, Isa, and welcome back! You have a great jump on your weight loss. The roach would have freaked me out, too! BTW, I stayed at the Hampton Inn in Monterrey last August and didn't see a single bug.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
