I will only have to be on Clear liquids the day before with nothing after midnight. From what I can tell, all doctors are different. A friend on mine had to be on Clear Liquids for two weeks prior....go figure!

Goodluck!

Whats the sweet spot mean?

Is that when the band finally restricts you as much as you want it to?

If so.. I will get it done monthly until then.

Do they allow you to do it monthly?

I will be filled on April 20th, and if I can still eat too much then I want the fill in MAY (they do one fill day per month)

and then in June if needed. I didnt want to pussy foot around with this and I am kinda dissappointed in it not being tight at all from the get go..

My question is.. do or can people get filled monthly if needed until they find the sweet spot?

Thanks for everyone's input. I finally called the Dr. He says that this is needed (for 2 wks prior) to try and trim the liver of excess fat. This allows easier access for him during surgery and in turn seems to make erosion almost non-existing. I'll try it, I guess. I tried a Caramel Denone Silhouette Fat Free yogourt last last night. Not too bad at all. I'll have to try it frozen too.

Wish me luck. This diet starts a week today.

Nykee,

The sweet spot refers to the spot that you have the best restriction. It can happen at your first fill or your 5th fill. It depends on the person. I had no restriction when I got my first fill of 1cc 6 weeks post op. 2 weeks later I called and insisted on another fill as the first one did nothing and I didn't want to pay again. My doctor put in another 1cc and said he wouldn't do another fill for a few months. Now i am retsricted but find it difficult to drink even Water too quickly. I have had to learn to eat soooo slowly and not too much. I can really only eat a small amount of healthy foods at a time. But isn't that the point of the band? Unfortunately, the easiest foods to go down a very restricted band are icecream, Cookies and candy. I have to fight like heck to avoid those foods. All doctors are different but most won't fill again for atleast 4-6 weeks. Please keep in mind that a fill is a fill and we still have to manage our own diets. Please don't count solely on the fill to be the miracle weight loss vehicle. You can really hurt yourself, PB, vomiting, slipage, if you eat or drink to much or too fast. It is really painful. Try to work on the emotional issues that cause us to over eat. That is when true success follows. Old habits are hard to change, but it can be done.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
