Hi all! I just read a book titled Weight Loss Surgery with the Adjustable Gastric Band: Everything You Need to Know Before and After Surgery to Lose Weight Sucessfully. It's written by Robert W. Sewell, MD, FACS, and Linda Rohrbough. I found it to be very informative. It explains how the band functions, what to expect before and after surgery, fills, complications, lifestyle changes, skin care after surgery, plastic surgery, and a chapter that addresses the people who live with bandsters.

It will be one of my tools to help me during my journey.

I bought it at Barnes and Noble. If they don't have it in stock, they can probably order it for you. Its ISBN is 978-1-60094-002-6.

Sounds excellent! I just checked on Amazon UK you can get it there too! I am gonna order it as soon as I get paid! I have been reading a book called shrink yourself by roger gould. Its about the mental aspects of compulsive eating I am finding it very helpfull! Its really helping me as I hope to try and tackle the metal aspect of eating before I get banded, though it might make the journey a bit less bumpy!

Hi Katie, I ordered mine on Amazon the other day and it should arrive in a couple of days. Thanks for the info. I am quite a reader and this will help me while I wait for my surgery date which is May 12th. I noticed Amazon had several books about Lap Band and some cook books too. That is good to know. Thanks again, Becky

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
