Whoa! Eating out was a problem! Yikes! Ideas for me?

Recommended Posts

I got a 2nd fill of 2 cc's and they had to take out .04 because I couldn't drink Water.< /p>

Okay we went away for the weekend and every meal out was a minor disaster. I guess I eat differently when I'm out than at home. I had a skillet with chicken and ended up vomiting the whole thing. the chicken just wouldn't go down at all. Very unattractive. Of course I wasn't hungry after that.

Then i had some queso dip with chips at Quodba's and slimmed that big time. So I haven't learned how to eat out yet.

But i did have success with tortilla Soup at Quodba's the next day. So soup it is for now when I'm out.

The good news is that I lost weight on my road trip and didn't feel deprived at all. I wasn;t hungry after all these unfortunate dinners out.

Do you all avoid chicken and meat when you go out and stick to Soups and easy stuff?

Sadie

Man, I usually try to avoid meat when I go out to eat...unless its Fish. And then Im super paranoid about pb'ing in public, so i chew everything probably more than needed...

A lot of people cant handle salads but ive never had a problem with one. I order that or Fish when im out, if not..soups pretty safe.

at least you lost some pounds :)

When we went out to eat, we went to one of our favorite restaurants and asked the waiter if they could make me a grilled chicken breast and some steamed vegies. At another restaurant, they allowed me to order from the children's menu. Now, I just order a regular meal and bring the leftovers home to eat for the rest of the week. Chicken and pork are my Protein of choice and i haven't had much of a problem with them, just when I eat too fast.

I'm paranoid when eating out too, I'm always extra careful. And as a rule, I have had the easiest time with my band, hardly EVER PB, but its so embarrassing when it does happen that I'd do almost anything to avoid it.

I make certain i chew everything well, the only time i have had problems when out was with sandwiches - half a sandwich german rye with chicken and salad or tuna and salad, when i have half sandwich at home no problems think it is a stress thing,or maybe eat too fast and try to fit it into my lunch break.

Ah, yes, fitting it into a lunch break! I dont work, so normally can take all the time I want and if I'm rushed, I just dont eat, knowing I can eat a bit later. But when I'm on teachign rounds, its torture, especially when we have yard duty and have to eat in 15 minutes.

Most of the time, I close the door to my office and sit at my desk to eat lunch. However, on payday, I usually go to lunch with the girls. That is when I tend to have problems. I feel like I am rushed and if eat too slow, then I think they are wondering why. I just need to learn to get over that, I guess.

I think I am going to just avoid chicken for a while and get used ot eating out with my band.

Don't get me wrong- I love my band! It is more than worth it to feel like a normal person with food.

Courage to all on your journey;

Sadie

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
