Are you happy with the site of your port? Do you wish it was in a different location?

Are you happy with the site of your port? Where is your port? Where do you wish it was? My surgery is May 27th. But I would love to know if there are any problems with the sites that the Dr. put your port. Both of my knees have been replaced. One knee has the incision right down the center. The other knee has the incision on the side of my knee. I sure do wish that both incisions were on the side of my knee because I keep hitting my one knee incision on EVERYRTHING. I would love to know if there are any downsides to a certain port site. Thank you for any help.

My port is just below my breast bone and I think it's in a great place. It never got sore from wearing pants or a bra. The doctor seems to have no problem finding the right spot as my fills have always taken less than 2 minutes.

Good luck.

Mine is about 2-3 inches up from my belly button and about 4-5 inches to my left. I haven't even had it a week but I do like where it is. During this delicate heling process it hasn't been in the way of clothes or bending etc.

Mine is pretty much exactly located at the place where Pearlygirl's is and I was banded on April 21.

My biggest problem is the gas pains! UGH!

We were banded the same day. Cool!

Mine is about 5 inches up, 3 over from the belly button. I'm not quite sure I like where is, but haven't had it long enough to make a decision.

I asked my doctor about the port position and he said that they have found that by putting the port in the center under my breast plate has been the easiest because by putting the port in different places they have to find it by using x-ray and different methods and by putting it in the same general place, he found it was easier. To be honest, I was concerned about my significant other being able to feel it and being "grossed out" by the feel, but my other said he can't feel it and it doesn't bother him. Good luck!!

Mine is at the front of my stomach by my belly button. When I get pregnant, it's going to look like I swallowed a coke bottle cap, lol.

I suppose different sites are harder to get at than others. The other downside is, as I said, pregnancy and the port sticking out like a babies nose.

It's all worth it to be hot.

My port was placed on the right side, as my right side has thicker muscle to attach it, too. For the first month I couldn't sleep on my stomach which is the only way I sleep well. I have been thoroughly enjoying my stomach sleeping for the last two weeks I was banded on March 18, 2008. Oh how the time just flew by.

Good luck to everyone who is thinking about the band, and to those of us who already have one!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
