i got banded 4/2 and I've lost 16 lbs.

lately I've really felt more hungry and have transitioned to solid foods.

I really think I'm needing my first fill because i'm feeling more hungry.

my activity level is through the roof and so is my appetite.

did anyone else feel like this before your first fill?

i was doing so good, but lately it seems like lack of restriction may be surfacing.

once i moved to solid food, my hunger pangs subsided before my first fill - which was 4 wks after surgery. do you have your fill scheduled?

you may find that you may take several fills (me 7) to get the restriction level where you don't think about food & when you do eat - your satisfied easily / for a longer period of time.

hang in - it's what some call bandster hell; and it is at times.

HI we were banded the same day and I am glad to hear I'm not the only one who is hungry lol! I have to wait 6 wks before my first fill. Didn't your doc tell you when to get your first fill? It is normal to be hungry with no fills and I hear that it could take several fills until we will get a little help from our band. Right now it is us on our own to lose like before we were banded. That's why it's called HELL!!! Call your doc to see when you can get your first fill. You may have to wait a few more weeks. Keep me posted on your progress. I have lost 12lbs so far...

I am in the same boat. I had mine done on 4-14 and I am awaiting my first fill. That is in about 3 weeks. I am hungry also but I did manage to lose 10 lbs after surgery while I am not filled. So Yeah talk to your Dr and he might get you in and fill you up. My dr told me that in 2 weeks if I am ready to be filled then I can go in and he will get me going. So good luck and hope everything works out for you..

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
