Weight Loss Science??? (long boring moan!)

Best Lesson I ever heard & have never mastered:

"If it grows out of the ground or falls off a tree, than its OK to but into your body."

LOL- Leave it to you two to think of something else besides fruits & veggies!!! LOL LOL

But truely its a good rule to live by for sure. And yes Cocco is natural and in limited quanities good for us. So are pure grains & fruits- Its just the preparation that can turn something good into something not so good(but taste better).

If I could learn to do this I would be quite thin- but I am a lazy girl & addicted to whats fast & quick.

dear bright, you sound EXACTLY like me 10 days ago. i had my surgery may 12 2004 and have only lost 25lbs. i think even those were lost by shere will-power. i kept hearing from other bandsters that they could only eat 1-1 1/2 cups max.; that when they went out to dinner they had to know where the bathroom was in case they had to pb; not to drink Water after u eat ect. and had none of those symptoms i just thought of course this works for everybody else and not for me.anyway 10 days ago i went for my 4th fill i had 6cc and she added 1 so i'm up to 7cc. i can't begin to tell u what a difference that made. i finally feel like i have a band. explain to your doc. exactly what quantities you are able to eat at a time sometimes they really are too conservative- i'm wondering if that's about the $ the more times u have to come back the more $ for them. i explained to mine that i was actually able to eat at least 3 cups of Pasta at one meal. and she said u definetely need a fill. so i think u just have to find the right fit for u and then it'll start coming off.GOOD LUCK!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
