Hello everyone--My name is Cristi and I am so happy to have found this site. I was always thin growing up and I never even knew to appreciate it its just what I was. I gained 100 lbs with my first pregnancy and have had no metabolism since-I worked really hard to get all 100 plus 30 2 yrs after birth but it was a constant battle-it had to be my every thought. since then I had 3 babies back to back to back so you can imagine. I have severe asthma so its almost like a catch 22 for me--I can't move around and do alot until I get some of the weight off, but I can't get the weight off until I get more physical. My insurance just approved the surgery today-(after jumping thru a series of hoops) and the surgery should take place in the next 2 weeks. I am sooo excited and ready for this--I'm ready to play with my kids again I'm ready to not dread getting dressed everyday, and I'm ready to not be out of breath just from reading a sentence or two to my boys. I look forward to taking this journey with all of you and I wish you all luck

Hi Cristi,

I'm new here also. Not sure really how I got here, I'm now 100 lbs over weight, and my life has changed and not for the better. Up till about 8 years ago I was pretty fit. I loved playing tennis, going on moutain bike runs, and pretty much anything physical. I got into a really bad marriage, which gave me my wonderful son however. Since then I got divorced, quit smoking (two years now) but put on so much weight, I don't even play tennis any longer. I really want my life back now, and I want to be there for my son, that's one of the main reasons I quit smoking. So looks like were both on an adventure! Good luck, and keep us posted.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
