I have my anesthesiologist appointment tomorrow - what happens there? Did you get weighed? What do they ask about?? What is the purpose?

Mine just ask me if I had ever had anesthesia before, what kind of surgeries, if I had any trouble with it. He had me open my mouth wide, tip my head back, and take a few deep breaths for him. They check on any dental work---removable plates, partials, spacers etc. Question if you have any latex allergies. Nothing major.

I was not weighed when I had to go meet with an anesthesiologist. It was not however for my band---the Anesth. come to my room and did the same exact thing!!! And it was included in the cost. With my thyroid surgery, I had to go to their office, and pay a co pay......took all of maybe 10 minutes, and I have had several surgeries, and health issues to list!!

Don't worry---it is an easy one!

I remember meeting with Anesthesiology at my pre-op appointment. I do recall that they did weigh me, ask me about previous circumstances with anesthesia, medications currently taking, previous surgeries. They also asked me to tilt my head backward and open wide. I'm guessing they want to make sure there's a clear path for the breathing and anesthesia apparatus.

I'm sure everything will be fine. They're trying to take good care of you, so please answer all of their questions truthfully.

Take care.

Sue

If you have never had surgery before try to ask other close family members if they have had issues with anesthesia. As this might be an issue with you. don't stress about it. Just let them know about all the drugs you take even the herbs and supplements. As they might have a effect. There will be a form you fill out and like others said they might check your airway( they didn't mine)

Good luck.

He/she will ask about your medical and surgical history, any allergies, and will assess your airway to make sure there are no problems. It's also YOUR chance to ask questions so make a list. I was not weighed at this visit.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
