Headaches are killing me

Recommended Posts

I started my liquid diet yesterday and I have had a splitting headache since yesterday afternoon. I got home from work last night, fed my kids dinner and went straight to bed because I thought I was going to die. My head is still killing me.

Has anyone else had this problem? If this continues I don't know what I will do because I know I won't be able to last 2 weeks with this pain.

I have been drinking all of my required items from the doctor so I am supposedly getting all of my necessary nutrition and I have been taking my Vitamins and Calcium.< /p>

HELP!!!!!!

I had the splitting headaches for about 4 days, I'm sorry to say. I attributed mine to my lack of sugar intake. I was still drinking hot tea and Crystal Light Iced Tea, so I didn't think it had to do with caffeine withdrawals. After about 3 1/2 days the pain really subsided and by the end of the 4th day, no more headaches. I've been headache free now every since (about 2 weeks). Hang in there. It does get better.

Hi there, hope your headache is easing off. I dont think you will suffer for the whole two weeks.I had really bad headaches around the 2nd day of my pre-op liquid diet, but it did get better by around the 4-5th day. Good luck!

Thank you for your replies - with your positive comments I can see a painfree light at the end of the tunnel. I can't wait to get there!

You're experiencing carb withdrawal and that headache should go away after about 3 days. If it doesn't, call your surgeon's office.

Yep, I agree with Elisabeth.... carb withdrawal kills me every time I reduce my carb intake. Same kind of headache I get with caffiene withdrawal - pain killers don't touch them. The only thing you can do is keep sipping plain Water - it will ease up in a couple of days.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
