Just wanted to say hello and to introduce myself. I have been lurking here for a couple of years now and finally decided to join.

I was banded on March 12, 2008 at UT Hospital in Knoxville. Dr. Matthew Mancini is my doctor and he did a wonderful job!

I have lost 32 pounds and two dress sizes since my surgery!:cursing: I have had a weight problem for most of my life and finally couldn't take it any longer. I was so miserable.

I researched this surgery for years and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. I was a self pay and don't regret one red cent!

So, anyway...howdy! :biggrin2:

Squirrel,

You are off to a great start! Keep up the good work. I'm right behind you with my 25 lbs gone. I feel so good with just that little gone. I can't wait to see what it feels like with 50, 70, 100 or more gone. And the best thing about it is........I'll NEVER see that weight again!

Just wanted to say Hi and welcome you to this great group of folks that are here on this site.

Sheri

I agree with everything you say. I was banded on 3/7. I have lost 30 lbs. too. I paid for the procedure myself and would do it again in a heart beat.

Saying hello from Memphis, Tennessee

Keep up the good work.

Hi Squirrel! Glad you finally decided to join us. You must really know your stuff after 2 years of researching, lol.

Congratulations on your weight loss! You are doing great. My only regret is the same as yours. I wish I had done it sooner. Keep up the good work and good luck to you.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
