Couldn't get the dogsitter for May 20--so I changed the date to May 13!!

Optifast starting on Tuesday. I plan on being cranky.

I only had 7 days pre op but 2 of those where Clear liquids cuz I had a colonoscopy on 7/13 and then the day before surgery was Clear Liquids only.

I didn't like the opitfast - I was suppose to do oatmeal, shake, Soup and 2 bars - they only had tomatoe Soup when I went (my doc provides the preop diet) it was AWFUL - - I called and asked can I have a small piece of fish and salad for dinner - and they said yes. I would have NEVER made a week on that awful soup for dinner.. - so I did do oatmeal - shake - small high Protein dinner and the snack bars that were actually pretty good.

Good Luck..

:wink_smile:A co-worker is having the surgery as well and our husbands have been questioning our mood during the pre/post op liquid diets. I've told them it's probably best just to stay away. Fellow employees I've told, for their own safety, I'm keeping my office door locked. :biggrin2:

And WELCOME TO MAY! (We have a May forum, come on over)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
