Omniplauque?

Recommended Posts

I know you guys are going to know what I am talking about.

I have had a hard time with fills, and lost 30 pounds since my surgery, and I remember reading a thread that stated that for people who are having a hard time with the typical Water approach, some of their doctors use Omniplauqe? I'm probably spelling that wrong, but when I asked my surgeon about it, he didnt seem familiar, (so I am probably calling it the wrong thing too) Can anyone give me some background info to share with him?

It's Omnipaque. My doctor uses it regularly without complication. I have my band filled with it and have never had any leakage problem after my first fill (which leaked).

Hadar Spivak is my doctor and has done thousands of lab band procedures, if you'd like to put your doctor in touch with him.

Not all doctors realize that this is an option, as a matter of fact, at my last fill I mentioned it and my doc looked at me with that deer in the headlights look.. he'd never heard of it... so I said...

"You know, Its like fixaflat for the band???? Omnipeak...."

With the same doe eyed look he was like "WHAT? thats the dye for diagnosing leaks, your not supposed to use it as fill" I told him that I knew others who had it done.. and that was the end of the conversation..... (the fill was in November) He is now using it with success! So remember.... docs are just human much of what they come to know are things that they learn at conferences and other networking events.

You are correct. It is just like fixing a flat tire. Its a little bit thicker than saline and yes, it does work. You might want to look it up on the web and take it to your doctor.

There are high pressure bands and low pressure bands. The low pressure ones don't have leaking problems and probably don't need the "fix a flat" stuff. I was pleased I got a low pressure band.
