anne31 0 Posted April 23, 2008 Yes I'm ready !! More then ever ! To ready to wait over a year to have done, but I will do whatever it takes. I have health net HMO insurance. I went to my first doctors apt yesterday where my doctor informed me that i would have to see the doctor every month for 6 months to weigh in and also show them a journal of everything that I've eaten for that month. After that is completed then I need to see a dietitian, a psychiatrist and so on and so on...it can take up to a year and a half. Is It worth it ? I've been over weight all my life. I have tried sooo hard to lose it. Now that I'm a mother there are so many things that I want to do with my children that I don't have the energy to do, this brings tears to my eyes. So yes, it's more then worth the wait to be able to run and play with my kids. I'm very excited ! This website is wonderful ! I will keep everyone posted as to how everything is going concerning the lap band, insurance, doctors visits and so on...I would love to hear from you all. Thanks for your support ! xo-Anne
kathystrick 3 Posted April 23, 2008 Congratulation on your decision Anne. You have a great attitude! When it all seems to be too much, just think, "Where will I be in a year if I don't do this?" Good luck to you!

Little Debbie 1 Posted April 23, 2008 Hi Anne Welcome to the site. I also have Health Net HMO; I am still in the process. My (I hope) last hoop to jump through is my nutritionial evaluation which is tomorrow, then they will send for auth. from ins. I was not required to get any nutritional history on my eating habits. Maybe because I have YEARS, or dare I say DECADES of diet memorabillia ranging from weight watchers record booklets to eating and exercising journals. Keep hanging around here, there's tons of info and support. These people are very supportive.
SpecialK 22 Posted April 23, 2008 Thanks so much ! That is a good way to look at it. Did you have to do anything like the six months of writing down your food and excercise? The answer is YES - many of us had to show at least 6 months of supervised diet and exercise program to get insurance approval. I used an online food tracking tool and would meet with my doctor to discuss the kinds of things I was eating, calorie levels, etc. I'm glad I actually got into the good habit of accounting for portions and what kinds of food I was eating, especially Protein levels as its a big help to me post surgery now to keep doing it. I've heard a few different online tools that are out there. I use My Food Diary :: Online Calorie Counter w/ Diet Journal & Exercise Log and its $9 a month, I've heard people talk about FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal and also Free Diet Plans at SparkPeople but whatever method you use, good luck! kozlosap 0 Posted April 23, 2008 Hi Anne! I am too just beginning the process with Healthnet HMO. My PCP put in for referral authorization last Friday and I was approved that very day. She did not make me do any kind of diet before she put the request in. Maybe the diet will happen when I see the surgeon, I just don't know. (hopefully we won't have to do one at all before surgery!). I'll let you know how my Healthnet path is progressing and please let me know about yours! Congrats on your decision! April in Northern Cal:rolleyes:
