Belly Sleepers

Recommended Posts

So, what's been the hardest part since my April 18th banding??? HAVING TO sleep ON MY BACK! I'm happy to report, this morning, I woke up ON MY BELLY!!!! I just layed there for a couple of minutes thinking, "oh yeah, this is the money, baby...."

Small Pleasures I tell you, small pleasures...

Anyone else experience this GLORIOUS moment post-op?

I've been using my body pillow to sort of prop me up while recovering. It makes me feel like I'm on my belly, but it doesn't put so much pressure on my port. I can sleep very well on my other side with no pain at all, but when I lay on the port side, I can feel the port pushing against my ribs. Doesn't really hurt, just puts pressure and feels weird. I hope that goes away because that's my favorite side to sleep on. I can't sleep on my back at all, so the pillow is great. I've slept well since my first night post-op.

I was able to sleep on my stomach for the first time about two days ago and what a GLORIOUS feeling it was! I'm a stomach sleeper, too! I was miserable on my back!

I was able to take my surgical dressing off today and my incisions look great! Dr. Kirshenbaum did a fantastic job- someday when I'm in a bikini, you won't even see the scars!

PS:

I'm down 9.2 lbs in one week! :tt2:

I was banded on April 7th and one day, I woke up on my belly. I tried to lay down on my belly on my stomach and it hurt where my port is, so no such luck there (this was tried last night). I can sleep on my side and on my back..but LOVE sleeping on my stomach. The day that I can do that comfortably, will be a day to remember!!

Hope everyone is having great success with losing the weight they are wishing to lose!

I slept on my side the day I had surgery..i just asked the nurse for an extra pillow and blanket and propped myself. I am a little over 2 weeks out from surgery and I can lay on my stomach with no problem what-so-ever. My port must be in a good spot that I dont notice it too much

AGH! I'm not the only one! I am miserable when trying to sleep. The first 3 nights I slept in the recliner and I guess bc of the pain meds and getting over the anithesia (sp) I slept like a rock. I decided to move to the bed night before last and was MISERABLE!! I can't get comfy on my back and when I try to lay on my right side (even with a body pillow) it feels like something falls and starts tugging around the port area. I can understand the discomfort to some extent but are ya'll feeling that something moves?? It's so uncomfortable!! I fought all night last night to sleep period. Tomorrow is my first day back at work so I NEED SLEEP TONIGHT!! When will this go away?

I've been able to sleep on my stomach from the start. The first night in the hospital I propped a pillow under my port then I laid on the pillow, it took a lot of the pressure off the port. At home I use a small travel pillow under the port area and sleep great.............Now the left shoulder pain that's still there every night, now that's another story!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
