Hi All, I was banded on 4/17/08, I had a rough 4 days after the surgery but I am slowly starting to feel better. My daily meals are two slim fasts or a slim fast and cup of Soup, all I can eat so far.

I started out at around 245 lbs and just weighed myself today and I am at 232.2! I will be so glad when all the pain from the surgery is gone and I can live a normal life again, I pray success for everyone new and old doing this program.:blushing:

Hi, was banded the 17th too. The pain has been a little more than I thought, but I'm taking it slow and waiting on feeling normal again. It's been hard getting the protien in and the Water too. I drink one shake and water and Jello and maybe a sf popsicle so far .Just wondering if that is enough.I have my post op on the 29th.

I was also banded on 4/17/08. The only pain I'm having is when I stand up. Then I get a burning sensation where my port is. I'm starting to get hungry. Trying to stick to the Protein shakes, etc.

Good luck everyone!

I was banded on the 18th and I have lost 10 pounds, which just blows my mind. I'm suppose to start my shakes tomorrow but other than that, it is broth and jell-o and the occasional popsicle. I keep wondering how long I can do this, but I keep doing it, even when my husband made fried peppers with cheese last night and asked, "Can't you have just one?" CRAZY MAN!

As for the pain, I am still suffering from gas pains in my shoulder and my port is uncomfortable as of yet. I suppose we'll soon find out. I wish you the best, and the best to all of us really! :tt2:

yeah the pain after the surgery was more than I expected as well, if i had known i would have been more prepared mentally for it.... The gas pains were really bad in my chest and left side, breathing deeply, walking when I could and doing little coughs has helped that, I think I got it all out now...

I am having very little pain today just a little around the port area when i stand or sit, I am doing fine on the slim fasts (low carb diet ones) they keep me full and no other desire to eat or snack on anything, I weighed this morning and it was 230! I am just amazed this is the first time in years I have been below 245 lbs

I think if you can get a few slim fasts in a day that is plenty of Protein, like 60g and with Vitamins and Calcium supplements we should all be great! Seems like we are missing something cause we dont eat as much as we used to lol I know, but I am really starting to love that I did this for myself...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
