I too am a slow loser

Recommended Posts

I have only lost 15 pounds since the operation which was the 15th of January 2008. I am also really concerned as the rest of my body is getting somewhat smaller my stomach is at huge as it was orginally and it is also really hard. Is this common?

I am getting really upset and the frustration is setting in. Any words of wisdom here I would love some....

hello shell,

I too have had my band for appx. 4 months and I have lost 19 lbs. I too am frustrated, but at the same time I havent been doing everything that I need to. This is truly a tool and I have to change my mindset...its hard though. Stay strong we will get there and remember that those pounds that we have lost are gone forever!

Thank you so much the lovely words of encouragement. I have lost around 20 so far and I have now had the second fill so I am at 5 cc. My doctors say that I need to listen to the band and learn how use it instead of work against it. I think my problem was too much wine on the weekends. It is full of sugar and calories. I feel more motivated and I hope I can help you in anyway also! Again thanks and keep working at it!

I have 3.2cc in my 4cc band and I completely agree with your dr. I have been working against my band. sometimes when I know my pouch is full I will keep eating. I have never PB'd . I need to learn how to stop eating and that i no longer have to be a member of the clean plate club!

Hey there. I was banded back in Nov and to date have only lost 29lbs. I know that it's 29lbs that are gone forever, but it's hard to see other people that have been banded at the same time as me have lost double so far.

I kept waiting for restriction to come before I even started to eat right and exercise, so I know that it's my fault. Since I finally reached my "sweet spot" I have definitely been losing but not as fast as I'd like (of course). I just lurk around these boards for support and tell myself that inch by inch, it'll come off, if I continue to work hard and use this band in the manner in which it was designed.

My doctor and his team have been so supportive and non-judgemental since I began this journey. He keeps telling me it'll happen and slowly I'm starting to believe him. :smile2:

I'm in the same slow sailing boat!! I've been working against my band and have not been eating the healthiest. I had my surgery in January and have only lost 15 pounds!!!!!!!!!! I am so ashamed of myself.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
